On Sunday, US President Donald Trump stated that China would
have agreed to a TikTok deal if not for the tariffs imposed by Washington on
Beijing the previous week.
According to Trump, “The report is that we had a
deal—well, not exactly a deal, but it was pretty close for TikTok.

Then China altered the terms due to the tariffs. If I
reduced the tariffs a bit, they’d approve the deal in 15 minutes. That shows
the power of tariffs,” Trump told reporters while on Air Force One.
