“Nigerian Politics Is Full Of Betrayals” – Ex-President Jonathan

Benin City, Edo State – Former President Goodluck Jonathan has praised his former Chief of Staff, Chief Mike Oghiadomhe, as a trustworthy ally.

Jonathan made the remark at Oghiadomhe’s 70th birthday celebration, which was attended by prominent dignitaries, including former governors Lucky Igbinedion, Osarhiemen Osunbor, Adams Oshiomhole, and Ibrahim Dakwambo of Gombe State.

According to Jonathan, Oghiadomhe is one of the few people who can be relied upon in Nigerian politics. “One of the few friends that can give up their necks for me is Mike. He’s somebody who would take a bullet on my behalf,” Jonathan stated.

The former president lamented the prevalence of betrayal in Nigerian politics, citing his personal experience during the 2015 election. “Nigerian politics is about betrayals. You find it difficult to see somebody who will say the same thing in the morning and in the evening. I’ve witnessed a lot of betrayals, especially during my 2015 election.”

However, Jonathan described Oghiadomhe as dependable, saying, “For me, he is somebody you can take his words to the bank. Most politicians, you cannot take their words to the bank.”

Other notable politicians also paid tribute to Oghiadomhe’s dedication and service. Adams Oshiomhole recalled discussions with Oghiadomhe, saying, “Whenever I discussed politics with the celebrant, he always told me that wherever Jonathan is, is where he would be.”

Lucky Igbinedion also praised Oghiadomhe, stating he had no reservations handing over state affairs to him as deputy governor when needed to travel abroad. The celebration was a testament to Oghiadomhe’s enduring legacy and influence in Nigerian politics.
