Germany is set to establish a joint cyber research centre with Israel, deepening collaboration between the two countries’ intelligence and security agencies. This move aims to bolster Germany’s cyber defence capabilities, according to Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt.
“Military defence alone is not sufficient for this turning point in security. A significant upgrade in civil defence is also essential to strengthen our overall defensive capabilities,” Dobrindt emphasized during a visit to Israel.
The joint initiative is part of Germany’s efforts to enhance its military capabilities and contributions to NATO, amid growing threats from Russia and China. Dobrindt outlined a five-point plan to establish a “Cyber Dome” for Germany, a key component of its cyber defence strategy.
The German-Israeli partnership leverages Israel’s expertise in defence, with Germany seeking to draw upon this knowledge to boost its own security capabilities. This development underscores the strong ties between Germany and Israel, with Germany being one of Israel’s closest allies in Europe.
