North Korea has announced its intention to implement its
“toughest” strategy yet to counter the United States, according to
state media reports on Sunday.
The statement followed a five-day year-end party
meeting led by Kim Jong Un, which aimed to set the country’s direction for
2025.
The official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) detailed the meeting and
Kim’s speech, which focused on intensifying anti-U.S. measures.

During the meeting, North Korea criticized the U.S. as the
“most reactionary state” and condemned the growing military cooperation between
South Korea, the U.S., and Japan, calling it a “nuclear military bloc for
aggression.” The report also accused South Korea of becoming a “stronghold” for
anti-communism.
Kim’s speech emphasized the need for a robust counteraction
against U.S. influence, though specifics were not provided.
The meeting also
reviewed the response to this year’s flooding and reiterated North Korea’s
commitment to strengthening ties with its “friendly” nations.

In addition to these developments, KCNA reported on the
increasing military cooperation between North Korea and Russia. Following a
2022 defense pact, North Korean soldiers have reportedly been involved in
combat in Ukraine.
South Korea’s military recently claimed that over a thousand
North Korean soldiers have been killed or wounded in Ukraine. Russian President
Putin recently sent a New Year’s message to Kim Jong Un, highlighting the
strengthened bilateral ties since their June meeting in Pyongyang.

The growing ties between Pyongyang and Moscow have raised
concerns, with Ukraine’s allies warning that North Korea’s involvement is a
dangerous escalation of the conflict.
